Originally, I moved down here to build a home in SeaScape and after months of false starts and hopes, it became clear that I needed to make other plans. As fate would have it, the house that I was renting in Lockwood Folly was adjacent to a home that you were building, so I got to watch you grow a house from the ground up. I read your name off of the signage in the yard and called Paul Grant who quickly found out that there was a lot available nearby that I might be able to afford.
Garrett Kelly helped me cinch the deal with the Lockwood realtor, and we entered into a very user-friendly contract. The lot that I purchased, though beautiful, was almost under water after Hurricane Ophelia, and an additional thirteen inches of rain a week later. Jack Boyd and his crew were unflappable and assured me that when they were finished with the foundation, my ship would never sink.
Although the Lockwood Folly POA insists upon the use of one of their existing plans for this patio home section of the neighborhood, I was encouraged by Paul and Garrett to create my own unique environment. By directing me to the sub contractors and allowing me to meet with them to discuss my wishes, I felt like a team member rather than a nuisance who holds the purse strings.
I could go on and on about the friendships I have made. Everyone that worked on this job was more than helpful. I was treated with respect by each crew and was delighted that they obviously wanted me to be happy with the work in progress. I do want to make special note of Jack and Harold. Not only did they "get" what I was trying to achieve, but each, in his own way, made it happen for me. How special for me that their contributions will always be a part of my home.
